Bodle Street Green Village Hall is Registered Charity No: 227875
In 2011, the Bodle Street Green Village Hall Committee carried out a review of the operation of the Hall. The general view was that our excellent facilities were, to some extent, let down by the size of the kitchen and the restricted space outside the toilets and there was unanimous agreement of the need to extend the Bodle Street Green Village Hall. After considering a number of alternatives, the committee agreed to an extension to the front of the hall with a further extension to the side of the kitchen. The scheme has the advantage that the existing roof can be extended as a cat slide roof across the kitchen extension so not requiring any alterations to the majority of the existing roof. A structural engineer has confirmed that, subject to the new kitchen store wall being made load bearing, the existing roof can be supported across the kitchen by an RSJ without any pillars being required within the kitchen.
Plans were submitted to Wealden District Council and full planning and building regulation approval was received during 2013. A copy of the ground plan for the extension is shown (plan attached). The building work including VAT but excluding any new fixtures and fittings is estimated to cost in excess of £50,000.00. The committee are therefore attempting to raise £20,000.00 which, together with existing funds, will provide a good basis on which to apply for grants. By the end of 2013, £9,500.00 had been raised towards this target. The committee is planning a series of fundraising events throughout 2014 but also invites individual donations.
